 A.Evaluation mode is an option that you may use to evaluate the EMR before buying a license key. This facility is available for you to download and install the full-featured EMR program on your computer and make sure the product you are purchasing is what you want.

How is the UniCharts™ EMR licensed?Back to Top
 A.UniCharts™ EMR is licensed by the maximum number of users that can be allowed to login into the system, regardless of their respective roles and access privileges into the system. A four user license, for instance, may be used by 2 physicians, 1 nurse and 1 front office clerk, or it may be used by 1 physician, 1 NP, 1 nurse and 1 front office clerk, or a physician may use it alone. Moreover, UniCharts EMR license key is an one time expenditure as it never expires.

 A.UniCharts™ EMR license can only be purchased online. Go to Purchase section on our website, select the desired license type or support package and follow the instructions.

How secure is purchasing a license online?Back to Top
 A.Purchasing our products online is safe and secure. To ensure highest level of security for our users, we hand over all payment transactions to Google Checkout, which is one of the largest payment processor in the United States. Processing millions of transactions each month, Google uses latest encryption technology and stores transaction information on its secure servers located in its locked data centers. If you decide to purchase an EMR license key, you will be redirected to Google Checkout secure sites where all the information collection and processing will occur.

If I purchased the EMR online, how and when will I receive my product license key?Back to Top
 A.Upon completion of transaction and credit authorization, you will receive an email confirmation from UnisonCare Corporation's e-commerce provider confirming your purchase. Then within 12 hours you will receive another email directly from UnisonCare Corporation that will include the unlock key for your purchased product. Please make sure the email address on your order form is valid. If for any reason you don't find the license key in your email within the stipulated period, please email us at sales@unicharts.com with your name or transaction number and the license key type you bought, so we can check your order manually.

Do I have to renew a purchased license?Back to Top
 A.No. All regular licenses for UniCharts™ EMR are valid indefinitely and never expire. However every purchased regular license comes with only one year of email support and updates. If you want to extend this facility after the original 12-month period, you can purchase a yearly support package and renew it every year.

What is included when I purchase a regular license?Back to Top
 A.One year of unlimited email support and software updates is included with a regular license. If you want to continue with the support and updates after that period, you will have to buy an annual support package.

Can I do without a support package?Back to Top
 A.Yes. If you feel comfortable with the program, you may not buy a support package after the lapse of one-year free support that comes with the purchase of every license.

I bought a license for 4 Users. How do I change a license type to include more users?Back to Top
 A.You can change your license type to an upper level, that is, upgrade a license, by paying the difference in price. You can do this on our purchase page.

Is there any hidden fee or cost?Back to Top
 A.There is absolutely no hidden fee or cost involved anywhere in the scenario. No additional modules or features to add as everything we offer is integrated into the system. Other than the one-time license cost, you need not pay anything. Yes, there is an option of purchasing yearly support package that cost 20% of the original license fee, but you are not required to buy it. One year of this support is included with the license and many customers may never need to extend the support period.

 A.The fully functional EMR software is available for you to download and install in evaluation mode. You are encouraged to avail this facility before you make any decision regarding the purchase of a license. Once a license is purchased and an unlock key issued, it is no longer eligible for refund. What operating system does UniCharts™ server run on?Back to Top
 A.The UniCharts™ server installs and runs on every version of Windows® 10, Windows® 8, Windows® 7, Windows® Server 2008, Windows® Vista, Windows® XP (including Tablet PC version), Windows® Server 2003, Windows® 2000 and Windows NT® 4.0, with latest service pack installed. As for the future version of Windows, we always check the operation of the program under the latest beta platforms from Microsoft Corporation.

 A.The client/s can be any computer having any operating system that has an Internet Explorer browser version 6.0 or higher installed. Absolutely no other installation is needed on the users computers/workstations. As such, even the computers running WindowsXP can also be used as clients.

Does the program runs on Mac and iPad computers?Back to Top
 A.No. However, our engineers are working to make the EMR compatible with the new HTML5 standard and this will, in turn, make it compatible with all major browsers, including Mac's and iPad's Safari. We expect this functionality to become available by the end of 2017.

 A.No. Our EMR is bundled with all the required software. No additional software or runtime libraries are needed for its installation or operation.

 A.Our EMR has no special hardware requirements. We even encourage solo practitioners and small practices to first try their existing equipment. We constantly measure the performance of our program and make adjustments to ensure that it run smoothly even on low-end computers. The computer on which the EMR is installed can be a normal desktop PC or a portable PC.

How easy is it to install the EMR and have it up and running?Back to Top
 A.Our EMR is packaged and come with fully featured install and uninstall capabilities. It takes only a few clicks to install the product and even less to uninstall it completely.

 A.You can install the EMR on your own system in about 15 minutes. Detailed installation instructions accompany the product license key that is sent via email.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet to install the software?Back to Top
 A.No. Once you have downloaded the installer, you do not need to be connected to the Internet to install or use the software.

 A.All our software is thoroughly scanned for viruses before any distribution. Also, unlike some applications that install a variety of assorted tools and files all over your system, our software has been designed to make the minimum possible number of changes to your computer.

Do I need to be a system administrator to install the software?Back to Top
 A.It is up to you. You may install as a non-admin or as an administrator. All features of the program should work normally, regardless who installed it.

How do I install the EMR software?Back to Top
 A.After downloading and saving the program to your computer, just double click the program to start the installation process. The EMR software installs using an easy wizard based installer that will guide you through the process. Be sure to read each screen, and follow any instructions they contain.

How do I uninstall the EMR software?Back to Top
 A.Uninstall capability is built-in with the EMR program. You can click Start->Programs, point to the program's group, find and click Uninstall to remove it from your system. Alternatively, go to the Windows Control Panel, open Add/Remove Programs, and choose the EMR and click Uninstall. As a safety precaution, uninstalling the EMR will not remove the Database. You will have to manually remove it from your system.

I have computers but no network. Is a network necessary to use the EMR?Back to Top
 A.No. Network comes into picture only if the system is to be accessed from more than one computer/workstation/terminal. If only one person is to use the EMR, there is no need for a network. The user can logon to the system through a browser window on the very machine EMR it is installed on, exactly as he would do if he were to logon in a networked environment.

I have 8 computers in my office. Do I have to install the program on every machine?Back to Top
 A.Unlike many multi-user systems that are composed of two software applications, our product capitalizes on the state-of-the-art thin-client architecture and needs to be installed only on one machine. All other computers just need to have Internet Explorer browsers to login.

I want to use the system alone. Do I need to have two computers?Back to Top
 A.No. You can logon to the EMR system from the same computer on which you install it.

Can your EMR be customized?Back to Top
 A.Yes, UniCharts™ EMR can be extensively customized through the built-in customization control panel. Within the control panel, customization support includes:

- Establishment and adjustment of individual schedules and calendar
- Complete restructuring of Patient Chart, specially the Encounter section
- Capabilities to add / remove drugs, codes, insurance companies etc.
Note that all these customizations are done by users themselves through the embedded wizard available for free. If there is a feature that you would like us to develop specially for you through custom programming, this service is also available. However, in most of the cases there is no need for it as the system is already very user customizable and adaptable.

How easy is it to add new sections or create drop down lists?Back to Top
 A.It is very easy to customize the chart and no programming experience is required for this. You can create new sections or menus from scratch or modify the ones that are already in the system to suit your needs.

Can I add new medicines to the medication hot list?Back to Top
 A.Yes. You can add any number of drugs to the medication hot list from the database that is included with our system. You can also remove a drug from the list.

 A.Yes. You can add any number of codes to the CPT hot list from the database that is included with our system. You can also remove a code from the list.

 Product Updation

What is your update policy?Back to Top
 A.When you purchase a UniCharts™ software regular license, you will receive one full year of free updates and email support. No matter how many updates we release within the same major version and type, your update will be free. After your original 12-month period, you can purchase a support package that includes update protection. With the purchase of a support package, you will get another 12 months of free updates and support. Please note that the support package is optional. If you are satisfied with the EMR after the expiry of the initial support period, you may not buy a support package.

How often do you update your products?Back to Top
 A.UnisonCare Corporation is continually researching and developing its products to ensure they remain at the cutting edge of the technology. As a result we release product updates almost every three months. We recommend you update your software at least every 6 months to ensure that you're using the most up-to-date technology and medical information.

Where can I get the latest update?Back to Top
 A.You can get latest updates from our website. The UniCharts™ server has built-in capability for updating itself online. You just need to access our website through the built-in update utility and the rest will be done automatically. There is no need to uninstall and reinstall the product for updating.

Do I need a serial number to update?Back to Top
 A.Yes. You simply need to enter the serial number into the dialogue box at the time of initiating an update. You will receive this serial number when you buy an annual support package. If you are under your original 12-month period, you need to enter the unlock key that you received when you purchased the license.

How much the annual support package cost?Back to Top
 A.Each support package is priced at 20% of the current price of a given license type for UniCharts EMR.
 Q.
What is the difference between an Update and an Upgrade?Back to Top
 A.An update is a maintenance release made available within the same version and type. For example switching from UniCharts 1.0 standard to UniCharts 1.1 standard is an update. An update usually contains enhancements to the program. We listen to what you tell us the program is missing and sometimes we add these suggestions to the software, which is then distributed as an update. Another possibility for a new update is bug fixes. If users find a significant bug and tell us about it we fix the error and release a new update. An upgrade, on the other hand, is always a major change to the software. It contains so many new features that it is like getting a whole new program. With an Upgrade, the number before the decimal point changes. For example, upgrading from the UniCharts 1.6 to the UniCharts 2.0 is an Upgrade. Because of the extensive changes in the program, we charge for an upgrade. Please note that users always have the option not to upgrade if they are happy with the software the way it is.

What is your Upgrade policy?Back to Top
 A.New major product releases have significant amount of improvements and new features, and therefore usually priced higher than the earlier releases. Nevertheless, if you are a licensed user of our EMR and want to upgrade to a new major release of the same type (eg standard to standard or certified to certified), you just need to pay an upgrade fee. This fee is usually 25% of the price of the product to which you want to upgrade. That is, if you have purchased a license from us in the past, you are entitled to buy any major release of our EMR at only 25% of the listed price.

Who is UniCharts™ EMR designed for?Back to Top
 A.It is designed for solo-practitioners as well as small single or multi-specialty groups. Depending upon the license type you choose to purchase, it can facilitate up to 24 simultaneous users (keys up to 32 users strength are also available on demand). Physicians, nurses, front office staff - UniCharts is for anyone who gathers patient data at the point-of-care and needs a really usable, comprehensive, and complete system to work on with.

I am a solo physician and I intend to use the system alone. Which license type should I buy?Back to Top
 A.You will have to buy 4 Users license, which is the lowest level available. You can use it alone for now and add more users in future should the need arise.
 Q.
I just installed the EMR in Evaluation mode. What capabilities does it have?Back to Top
 A.The EMR in evaluation mode is fully functional except that you cannot create more than 20 patient charts or book more than 1000 appointments. You can install the EMR on your server and use all of its features in a multi-user environment. You will just not be able to create more than 20 patient charts or schedule more than 1000 patients. You can then purchase the regular license online and receive the unlock key. Once unlocked, the restrictions will be removed, and you will be able to use the software indefinitely.

Do I have to reinstall the EMR after I purchase a license key key?Back to Top
 A.No. You will not have to download or reinstall the program as the activation key that you will receive after your purchase will switch the evaluation mode to regular mode and remove all the restrictions from it.

What do I do if my computer crashed and I need a new copy of the software?Back to Top
 A.You just need to download the software again and use the license key you already have to unlock it on the new computer. If you lost your license key, email us your order information with your name and email address and approximate purchase date. We will send the license key again after verifying the sale.

Do I have to install the EMR on the computer of every user in the practice?Back to Top
 A.No. The UniCharts™ requires to be installed on one machine. All other users only need to open their Internet Explorer browsers and login from their computer/terminal, including the very computer the EMR is installed on.
 Q.
Will I able to access the EMR remotely?Back to Top
 A.Our system is Internet ready out of the box. There are, however, some considerations with regards to Internet connectivity and the local network configuration. The practice should have a static IP address and the local network should be configured to allow outside communications. We recommend our users to avail services of local support personnel for proper configuration of their network, even if they would be accessing the EMR only over the local network. If you have a router based local network, a brief tutorial is available for your perusal.

 A.UniCharts is very user-friendly and intuitive program. If you are familiar with standard programs like MS Word and surf the web using a browser, you should be able to begin using it without any training. In case you feel a need to learn how to use the program, knowledgebase articles and tutorials are available at our site to keep your learning curve at a minimum.

 A.The hardware requirements of our EMR are minimal. However, the general rule of thumb is that more the horsepower & memory one utilizes better the performance one can expect. Still, if you are a solo practitioner or a small practice with less than 5 expected users, we suggest that you first try your current equipment and see if it can be effectively used. In this case, just use your best computer to install the EMR program on and the lower end machines as users. What screen size do you recommend?Back to Top
 A.Our EMR is optimized for a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. You can change your screen size by right clicking on the desktop to display the pop up box and choosing Properties. If you then click on the settings tab, you should see a section called Display Area or Screen Size. Move the slider from your existing size to 1024 x 768. Say OK to both messages and your screen should flicker and then change.

 A.Yes, our EMR includes the most frequently used CPT codes and a complete database of 96,000 ICD-10 codes. In case a code is not present by default, you may add it easily to the system.

Can more than one user open a patient’s chart at the same time?Back to Top
 A.Yes. However only the user who opens the chart first will have write privileges. Other users will see the read-only version of the chart. This is to ensure data integrity and is by design.

 A.Yes. You can open up to four patient charts at a time.

Can data from previous encounters be used as a template for new encounter?Back to Top
 A.Yes, the option to copy an entire previous encounter is readily available. In fact you can copy from any past encounters of the chart. As many patients return for follow up appointments for diseases or conditions already recorded in the previous encounters, starting from that information and doing some adjustments saves significant documentation time. Furthermore, you can also bring forward the data from designated sections of the last saved encounter, such as physical examination, review of systems and ongoing problems.

 A.You can search for a chart in more than 10 ways, including search by patient’s last or first name, age and last visit date.

Will I able to write prescriptions?Back to Top
 A.Yes. Prescription writer is built into the system. You can conveniently print or fax the prescriptions.

Is there any provision for handling Refills?Back to Top
 A.Yes. It is very easy to create a Refill. Refills can be done even without opening the chart of the concerned patient.

 A.Yes. Scanned documents can be uploaded and attached to the charts. You can even upload PDF files.

 A.Yes. The messaging system is built into our EMR. You can even route patient charts, scanned documents and telephone messages to other users.

Is it possible to co-sign the encounter notes?Back to Top
 A.Yes, an encounter may be signed and then cosigned by a different user. This EMR feature is particularly suitable for specialty clinics where colloborative care is provided using multiple medical assistants under supervision of a single doctor or physician.

 A.UniCharts™ EMR uses the latest My SQL relational database. We believe it is one of the most advanced databases that exist today. Please visit their website for more information.

Can the database handle large amounts of data?Back to Top
 A.Yes, My SQL can store and manage 100's of GigaBytes. The size is typically only limited by the amount of hard disk space available.
 Q.
How difficult is it to transfer data from my existing system to your product?Back to Top
 A.If you have prior demographic/insurance data in Excel format or if your existing system can export it as an Excel or CSV (comma-delimited) file, you may use our built-in utility to import patients before starting to use the EMR. You should be able to import thousands of patients within minutes. If you have prior data in a database, it can also be extracted as a CSV file. Almost all databases provide this facility and therefore this should not be a concern in most cases.

 A.Indeed. Our product can export entire patient data both in XML and PDF formats. There is no chance of you being trapped should you decide to change vendors in future. It can also export demographic and insurance data as comma-delimited file.

 A.Yes. It accepts input from mouse, keyboard, speech recognition programs and hand writing recognition programs.

 A.Yes. It works with Tablet PCs in the same way as it works on normal desktop PCs.

 A.All access to the server is password protected and access to patient data on the server itself is also password protected. In addition, you can easily configure a secure layer to encrypt and protect all data that is sent or received over the network, be it your wired LAN, wireless LAN or the Internet.
