New charts are created either using patients' last and first names or their social security numbers, depending upon the user preference set in the administration area. If the user elects to use patients' name to create charts, the chart indexing is done using system generated ID numbers and this process is completely transparent to the user. Any number of patient charts can be created within the electronic medical records and retrieved easily whenever needed.
