Chlamydia Screening for Women

Percentage of women 16-24 years of age who were identified as sexually active and who had at least one test for chlamydia during the measurement year.

Description and Implementation within the EMR software

There are 3 denominators each having 1 numerator in this measure and this translates to 3 sets in total.

Denominator 1: All female patients 16-24 years of age with at least 1 encounter during the meaningful-use reporting period and having one of the following ICD-10 codes selected in ASSESSMENT/DIAGNOSIS section on the ENCOUNTER form:
A50.01, A50.02, A50.03, A50.04, A50.05, A50.06, A50.07, A50.08, A50.09, A50.1, A50.2, A50.31, A51.0, A51.1, A51.2, A51.31, A51.32, A51.39, A51.41, A51.42, A51.43, A51.44, A51.45, A51.46, A51.49, A51.5, A51.9, A60.00, A60.02, A60.03, A60.04, A60.09, A60.1, A60.9, A63.0, A74.81, A74.89, A74.9, B20, B97.33, B97.34, B97.35, B97.7, Z21.
The system also looks for CPT code 59400 (obstetric care / vaginal delivery), CPT codes 88141, 88142, 88175 (Pap test) or LOINC code 19080-1 (Pregnancy Test), LOINC code 10524-7, 18500-9, 19765-7 (Pap test) within the PROCEDURES/SERVICES section on the ENCOUNTER form to identify sexually active women and include them into the denominator

Numerator 1: Patients in the above mentioned list who had at least one test for chlamydia during the reporting period. UniCharts looks for the custom code QM033A: [Quality Measure] Chlamydia screening performed, results documented and/or reviewed (3511F) or QM033X: [Exclusion] Chlamydia screening not performed due to pregnancy test and Isotretinoin order/X-Ray study within the PROCEDURES/SERVICES section on the ENCOUNTER form as the required documentation.

Denominator 2: All female patients 16-20 years of age with at least 1 encounter during the meaningful-use reporting period and having one of the ICD-10 codes listed above

Numerator 1: As above.

Denominator 3: All female patients 21-24 years of age with at least 1 encounter during the meaningful-use reporting period and having one of the ICD-10 codes listed above

Numerator 1: As above.
