Low Back Pain: Use of Imaging Studies
Percentage of male and female patients with a primary diagnosis of low back pain who did not have an imaging study (plain X-Ray, MRI, CT scan) within 28 days of diagnosis.
Description & Implementation within the certified EMR (EHR) software
Denominator: All male and female patients with at least 1 encounter during the reporting period having one of the following diagnosis codes selected in ASSESSMENT/DIAGNOSIS section:
724.2, 724.5
Numerator: Patients in the above list who did not have an imaging study within 28 days of diagnosis. UniCharts EMR looks for the custom code QM052A: [Quality Measure] Patient has not had imaging study of low back within 28 days of diagnosis within the DIAGNOSTICS/PROCEDURES section on the ENCOUNTER form as the required documentation.
